Deep Half Guard-Taking the Back-Using his Lapel
This weeks 2 Minute Technique is from the Deep Half Guard. In this video you’ll learn how to take your opponent’s back by using his lapel. Yeah, his own lapel! Check it out below:
Step #1-2: Starting in combat base, you’re going to (#2) spin using your right leg to help kick his leg away.
Step #3-4: Now your left hand (the one that’s in front) is going to open his lapel and feed it to the right hand. This right arm is going to be used as a frame to keep him from turning back toward your feet. (#4) Next, insert the outside butterfly hook, and kick opponents foot away.
Step #5-6: As you keep your opponents foot elevated you’ll pull him into you. Using his lapel that you grabbed earlier. (#6) Using your ghost hooks to hold him in place, you’ll insert your left arm under his arm. Your right arm will insert over – starting to attack the neck so that he defends. This will give you an opportunity to put your hooks in.
