This is two variations of the Granby Roll. So basically, a Granby Roll is where we go from shoulder to shoulder across the back of our shoulders. It’s an inversion process so you’re actually going to invert. Your hips are going to be higher than your head and we’re going to transfer the weight from one shoulder to the other shoulder.
So, depending on the application of the technique, we’ll either do the first variation I did or we’ll do the second variation. With the first one we’re at the sitting position so I fold my left arm behind my back I will let this shoulder (left) drop to the mat first. I invert by transferring the weight all the way to my neck and then I go all the way through and I’m sitting. Of course we’ll do it a lot faster than that.
The second variation looks almost like we’re starting to do a shoulder roll but once that shoulder drops, I tuck my chin to my chest. I invert, I transfer the weight to the other shoulder and I end up facing in the exact opposite direction that I started. And those are two examples of a Granby Roll.
