Our son has recently started training here. My husband has recently started back training. They offer classes at all times which is great for our busy schedules. This is a great program we wouldn't be anywhere else!!

Our twin girls have been coming to PAMA for a little over 2 years and still look forward to coming to class. Family friendly, locally-owned and operated. Instructor/owners are personable, knowledgeable and committed to providing quality instruction. Assistant instructors are dedicated and provide excellent support. I would highly recommend PAMA to parents who wish to pursue martial arts training for their children.

Pendergrass Academy is by far one of the best things that has happened to my children and I am now a student of PAMA you need to come give it a try it's a decision I promise you won't regret. The Academy is not just a place to study but a family. The staff is the best in the Business.

This is a great school. My oldest son has gained so much confidence in the 5 years he been coming here. My youngest has been enrolled for a few months and is having as much fun as his older brother. I became tired of watching them have all the fun so I joined too. Great kids program, great adult program and awesome instructors.

My husband and I both train here. My husband has trained here for years. I started with Muay Thai this past year and have just started jiu jitsu. All the teachers and staff here are great and the students are very welcoming. I could not say enough nice things about Pendergrass! Highly recommend!!!

Rob hosted a Beginning Jiu Jitsu class for me and 11 of my friends. He gave a great overview of jiu jitsu and we all had a blast on the mat. He was very nice, humble, and well paced though out the training. He even stayed later since we started a little late because of late arrivals. The facility is nice and it is great that they offer Muay Thai also. I think I am going to sign up and also sign up my kids. Thank you Rob for an awesome birthday. It was exactly what I wanted.

This is a wonderful program. All three of our sons have been a part of Pendergrass Academy for many years. It has taught them so much more than martial arts. We are grateful to be a part of this fantastic family business.

Top Four Benefits of Working out With a Loved One

Top Four Benefits of Working out With a Loved One

There are few things quite like working out with a partner or spouse, sister or brother – a loved one of any sort. No matter the type of martial arts you both practice, there are some benefits to exercising together. From perfecting your form to keeping each other motivated, you’ll find them here. Read on to find out more.

1) You can keep each other motivated
One of the most difficult things about an exercise regimen of any kind is sticking to it. You might be tempted to take one day off, and that leads to a pattern of skipped practices and classes. Working out with your loved one can keep you both motivated. You won’t be tempted to stay on the couch together when you both want to practice your Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai moves.

2) You have an automatic martial arts training partner
Even if you’re actively taking martial arts classes, you still need to practice your moves. And what better to do so than with your partner? The two of you can go over what you’ve learned in class together and treat each other as training partners. If you’re on different levels, you can still make this work, since you’ll be learning from each other as you go along.

3) It’s easy to set up workout times since you know each other’s schedules
Another great thing about practicing martial arts with your loved one is the fact that you know each other’s schedules. You can set up your combined workout times a week or two in advance, and if you need to reschedule, then you won’t have to worry about playing phone tag. Having a set schedule can keep you both on track.

4) Workouts will be much more fun
Everyone loves spending time with their spouse, partner or loved ones. Even twins don’t seem to get tired of each other. You’ll have plenty of fun together. When both of you enjoy spending time on the mat together, your relationship – and your martial arts skills – will grow stronger.

There are four clear benefits to working out with your loved one, plus some additional ones not covered here in detail. Your martial arts skills will improve since you will look forward to your practices. You’ll also have more fun while doing so, and nothing makes a workout better than this. Between the additional motivation, the set times, and many other benefits, you’ll become a better martial artist in no time.

Take Professors Rob and Guy Pendergrass for example. These twin brothers have been training in martial arts for more than 20+ years together. They both share a passion for learning and teaching new techniques in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. They have kept each other in check and have been able to attain their goals. They are proof of the many benefits to training with a loved one.

In keeping with the theme of Working out with a Loved One, make sure to be on the lookout for our Mother’s Day Blog in the upcoming month…..

…..Flowers might be the traditional gift for Mother’s Day, but they’re also what’s expected. Giving your mom a martial arts membership or enrolling her in a class might not be the usual choice, but there are many good reasons to consider giving your mom exactly that this Mother’s Day.
